Today’s class was all about creating a Feedly account. Feedly is “a news aggregator application for various web browsers and mobile devices. It compiles news feeds from a variety of online sources for the user to customize and share with others.”
It is very easy to complete your account and here are the steps of how we did it in class:
- You will need to search on Google for the Feedly website: https://feedly.com/i/welcome and once you enter you will click on the “Get Started for Free” button.
- Then you will continue to log in with a Google account.
- Once you have logged in with your email a page will appear with a search bar and on top of the search bar it says “Discover the best sources for any topic”.
- On that search bar you will search and follow the accounts that interest you. That could be searching for the name of the accounts or using a URL.
- The professor said that we needed to create 4 feeds or categories. Those being science and technology, inf 103 (this is where you will add the websites of everyone in the class), a professional one that has to do with what you are studying and the final feed is just the things that interest you. On the professional feed and on the things that interest you feed, you will have to add 5 pages.
- The first thing that we added was on the science and technology feed. You will search on the search bar for “El Nuevo Día: Tecnología”. Once you search it you will hit the “Follow” button and you will hit where it says “+ New Feed” and you will name it “Ciencia y Tecnología”, which means Science and Technology, making it your first feed. If you want to follow other pages that have to with science and technology you will just add them to that feed. On this feed we also searched and added the “Portada de Tecnología | El País.
- Then in the class we created the Inf 103 feed. On this feed you will do the exact same thing just that on this feed called Inf 103 you will add the websites/blogs of every student in the class so you can see when they post. You can do that by searching on the class page every student’s website and copy and paste their links on the Feedly page on the search bar: https://inf103.com/category/sec3+2019-1/ (This link is for the section 3 class but you can search for any section where it says “secciones” at the top of the page). After you have searched them, followed them and added them to the INF 103 feed you will repeat the steps to create the professional feed and the things that interest you feed.
